Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to get any configuration test function in settings to chime out for more than my PC's two left & right front speakers. I have tried in Media Ctr. settings, as well as sound device settings via the control panel, and even RealTek's HD Audio Manager program. In every test I have indicated a 5.1 speaker set-up and at each site only the two front speakers were recognized while the center, subwoofer and two rear (side) speakers were passed over in silence.
This is not to say my speakers are silent. The sub has adequate volume and I would say the rear & center speakers are at 50-60 % of the volume of the front speakers. The quality is lacking, though, and the rear speakers can sound reedy & thin. It's definitely not surround sound either. It's more like a 2 x stereo effect. I reviewed many answers at this site to reports from PC owners with similar problems as mine, so to the best of my ability I think I am able to rule out the obvious by making sure no mute buttons and volume controls have been overlooked. I recently updated the drivers, which are Realtek Hi Def audio codecs (ALC889), and I've also got a Logitech G51 5.1 speaker set-up. My PC is a recent desktop model W7 - 64 bit with an AMD 8 core FX processor and 16 gb of DDR3 memory. Thanks for considering my query.
Set Up 5.1 Sound Surround
Just ordered a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Digital Out PCI sound card and need advice on speakers. I have an OLEVIA 27' monitor (and it was well worth the cost:-)) and would like to keep it's excellent speakers in the loop. The details of the connections evade me. A with accent above. Most sound cards seem to have 3 jacks. English movies dubbed in hindi download. Some come with a mixer box. I may need only 2 more speakers and a woofer to complete the set up? The monitor may lose it's audio as soon as I disconnect the on-board sound?
Any advice? Got the sound card cheap but thought I'd ask before going any further. Comments are closed.
